Calathea ‘Silver Plate’ Growing Instructions

In summer, when the temperature is above 35°C, people should do cooling; in winter, when the room temperature is below 15°C, do a good job of keeping warm. If not regulated, Calathea 'Silver Plate' can stop growing and in severe cases die.

Calathea 'Silver Plate' is sensitive to high levels of fertiliser, so don't over-fertilise or you will be prone to leaf burn. In addition, when the temperature is low, you need to control the amount of fertiliser, otherwise it will cause the leaves to "spit", and if this condition persists for a long time, the leaves of the bamboo taro will have a scorched edge.

If the humidity is too low, the new leaves of Calathea 'Silver Plate' will not stretch sufficiently, resulting in small, scorched, yellow-edged, fluffy leaves, which will ultimately affect the plant's ornamental qualities.

There are many varieties of Calathea. For Calathea with large, thin leaves, water at short intervals while keeping the pot moist; for Calathea with long, thin, thick leaves, water at longer intervals.

Calathea itself is an epiphyte, so it does not need much light. Calathea does not like strong light, which can burn the plant and cause the leaves to yellow, affecting its ornamental value.
